LOS ANGELES, Oct. 26 (TodayViralUSA) — Eric Bauza, the Emmy-winning voice actor who became the modern voice of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and a long roster of other Looney Tunes characters, has died. He was 46.

Bauza died Sunday at his home, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records, which list the cause as hypertensive cardiovascular disease. His family announced the death in a statement on his Instagram account, saying he had “passed away suddenly” and that more details would follow.

The Hollywood Reporter said he had been scheduled to attend the premiere that afternoon of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s “The Cat in the Hat” to support “Daffy Season,” a short that plays before the film.

Following in Mel Blanc’s footsteps

Born in Scarborough, Toronto, in 1979, Bauza worked with Warner Bros. Animation for 15 years and built up more than 400 acting credits. He took on many of the characters originated by the legendary Mel Blanc, voicing Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn and the Road Runner across series and films.

His recent work included this year’s hit “Coyote vs. Acme,” in which he voiced a string of classic characters, as well as “Space Jam: A New Legacy” and the series “Looney Tunes Cartoons.” He won three Children’s and Family Emmy Awards between 2022 and 2025 for “Teen Titans Go!,” “Bugs Bunny Builders” and “Looney Tunes Cartoons.”

At the time of his death, he was in pre-production on “Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical” and “The Dragon Masters,” according to The Guardian.

Tributes

“Eric Bauza was a unique voice talent who brought joy and laughter to millions around the world,” Channing Dungey, chair of Warner Bros. Television Group and U.S. Networks, said in a statement shared with Variety. “He followed in the footsteps of giants like Mel Blanc.” She added that Bauza had called carrying on the Looney Tunes legacy “among the greatest honors of his life.”

Christopher DeFaria, who worked with Bauza on “Coyote vs. Acme,” told Variety the actor had “carved out a place in this business” while voicing characters with historic predecessors, and had made “such an incredible impact” over the past year.
