NEW YORK, Nov. 3 (TodayViralUSA) — Twenty years after it was kept out of the top spot, My Chemical Romance’s The Black Parade is finally the most popular album in America. A 20th anniversary deluxe reissue of the 2006 rock opera has given the band its first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The album vaulted from No. 139 to No. 1 on the chart dated Nov. 7 after earning 78,000 equivalent album units in the United States in the week ending Oct. 29, up 653%, according to Billboard and data tracker Luminate. Traditional album sales made up 68,000 of that total, an increase of 2,082%.

Vinyl powers the climb

Vinyl purchases accounted for 42,000 of the week’s sales, the band’s best vinyl week ever. The reissue was released in more than 20 physical variants on vinyl, CD and cassette, including signed editions, and the expanded versions add six bonus tracks. All versions are combined for chart purposes.

When The Black Parade first came out in 2006, it debuted at No. 2, held back by Disney’s Hannah Montana soundtrack, the Associated Press noted. It remained the band’s highest-charting album until now.

A record-long wait

Billboard said the album’s 20-year wait to reach No. 1 is the longest ever, surpassing the 15 years and nine months it took Toby Keith’s 35 Biggest Hits to top the chart after his death in 2024. Its jump from No. 139 is also the biggest leap to No. 1 since Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) climbed from No. 157 in 2021.

The band has been celebrating the album on a tour that began in July 2025, including a five-night run at the Hollywood Bowl in October, and is scheduled to wrap on Nov. 22 in Indonesia.

Olivia Rodrigo’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love slipped to No. 2 on the new chart, followed by Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem at No. 3.
