WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 (TodayViralUSA) — President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he will have spent more than $400 million backing Republican candidates by Election Day, a striking personal commitment as his party fights to keep its narrow majorities in Congress in the Nov. 3 midterm elections.

“I have spent, or will be spending, over 400 Million Dollars by Election Day,” Trump wrote on social media, adding that more than $300 million had already gone to advertising, direct and indirect voter contact, rallies, telerallies, get-out-the-vote programs and what he called “Election Integrity.” He described the contests as “the Most Important Midterm Elections in our Country’s History.”

Where the money comes from

The spending flows through Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc., and an affiliated nonprofit, Securing American Greatness, The Washington Post reported. Campaign filings show MAGA Inc. and an affiliated group, No Going Back PAC, have spent at least $226 million on the elections so far, according to Reuters.

MAGA Inc. was due to file a disclosure report with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday covering its finances through the end of September, including donors who gave more than $200, UPI reported.

Bloomberg steps up for Democrats

On the other side, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is sending about $80 million to help Democrats in September and October, The New York Times reported, according to Reuters. At least $50 million is going to House races, including $24 million for Everytown for Gun Safety, the group he co-founded, and $16 million for House Majority PAC, the main super PAC aligned with House Democratic leaders.

Democrats need a net gain of four seats in both the House and the Senate to take control of the chambers, where Republicans hold majorities of 218-214 and 53-47. Trump and other Republican leaders have repeatedly warned that a Democratic majority would seek to impeach him.
